Continuing Education Requirements
How do I obtain CE credit for completing the course?
Deborah Long will provide you with a certificate for your files and send a confirmation to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. You MUST email Deborah when you have completed the course. Her email address is d_long@mindspring.com. She will confirm your completion of the course before sending you a completion slip. You will receive a completion slip in about one week from completion.
Does my state require me to sign a statement to get CE credit for this course?
Yes. You will be emailed a certification statement and course evaluation form to sign and fax back to Deborah.
YES. You must take a Final Examination for this course to earn four hours of credit. In addition, there are end-of-Module quizzes in which you must complete with 100% proficiency. You will be given many opportunities to reach 100%.
How do I obtain NAR or local association credit?
NAR requires that its members take a 2.5-hour Code of Ethics course before Jan. 1, 2009 to renew membership. You will receive TWO certificates when you complete this course: one certificate should be retained for at least three years as proof that you completed your NC elective requirements. The second certificate should be delivered by you to your local association as evidence you completed this course for NAR renewal.
While the "classroom" version of this course has been approved by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission and this distance education version has been approved by ARELLO (the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials), it is critical that you check with your local association of REALTORS® before you take this course to determine if your local association will accept this online version.
Currently, this course has been approved by the following local associations of REALTORS for NAR membership renewal credit:
Once I register for an online course, can I start it immediately?
Yes. The online enrollment process includes credit card verification. In under a minute, you will be approved to start your desired online course(s). We will send you an email confirmation for your records, but you may begin the course at any time, including immediately following registration. You will be asked for a "shipping address" because Deborah will have to send you a course completion slip.
Where do I go to register for the online course?
Click anywhere on this page where it says “Enroll now”. You will be linked to the Bert Rodgers Schools website where you will see a description of the course.
Click on “Add to Cart”, then choose “Check out”.
This will bring you to the registration page. Fill out the required fields and make sure you choose “License Profession” and select “North Carolina Real Estate Licensee” from the drop down menu. Make sure you type in your license number. It is required for your course completion certificate.
When you have completed the registration form, click on “Submit” and enter your credit card information. Once your payment has been processed you will receive access to the course. Access instructions will appear along with a link to the course login. You may print these instructions.
Must I complete the online course in one sitting, or can I log off and come back to it later?
It is not necessary to complete the course in one sitting. You may save your place in the course Modules (not in the end-of-Module quizzes or the Final Examination) if you would like to. However, you must finish the course within 30 days of enrollment. In order to receive elective credit in NC, you must also finish the course by June 10th.
You may be able to complete the course in less than four hours. You will still receive credit for taking a four-hour elective.
Does my enrollment expire after a certain period of time?
You will be able to enroll in the online course at any time during the next 12 months. Once you enroll, you have 30 days to complete the course. However, read the information below about finishing by a certain date for elective credit.
Must I finish by a certain date?
If you are trying to earn elective credit to renew a North Carolina real estate license for 2006-2007, you must enroll no later than June 10, 2007. You must complete the course within 30 DAYS of enrollment. Please note, however, that the NC Real Estate Commission also requires that courses must be finished by June 10 of each license cycle. So licensees who wait until June 10th to start the course must finish it by 11:59 p.m that evening.
If you take more than one elective course, you may be eligible to have
the second course apply to the following year's elective credit.
Contact the NC Real Estate Commission for more information.
Deborah Long will provide you with two original certificates for your files. Do not send a certificate to the Commission. Deborah will send a confirmation of course completion to your state regulatory agency.
You will receive a second original certificate to deliver to your local association of REALTORS®.
You must e-mail Deborah that you have completed the course. Her email address is d_long@mindspring.com . She will send you an affidavit to fill out and fax back to her confirming that you completed the course.
